In-House Manufacturing Capabilities

All pipe work is fabricated in our fully equipped engineering facility using precision cutting, bevelling, and welding equipment. Our pipefitters and coded welders are experienced in working across a range of materials and jointing methods, allowing us to tailor assemblies to your specific mechanical or process service requirements.

We commonly fabricate in carbon steel, stainless steel, duplex and super duplex, copper, and various high-performance alloys such as Inconel and Hastelloy. Welds are completed using TIG, MIG, or MMA processes, with welders qualified in accordance with ASME IX and BS EN ISO 9606-1.

Assemblies are fabricated using approved weld procedures and joint designs, overseen by our internal quality assurance team. We routinely fabricate systems for hot water, chilled water, steam, compressed air, oil, gas, and chemical transfer. We also accommodate more specialist pipework such as jacketed lines, hygienic tubing, and corrosion-resistant systems where required.

Custom-Built to Design Specifications

Each prefabricated system is produced to match your detailed specifications, with input from our in-house engineering and CAD team where required. We work from client-issued general arrangement or isometric drawings and can also develop or validate designs using our own software tools and fabrication expertise.

Where space or routing constraints are an issue, we offer full design modelling services to support clash detection and ensure that systems will install as intended on-site. For repeat clients or framework agreements, we maintain drawing records and component libraries to ensure consistency across installations. If a legacy system requires updating but drawings are unavailable, we can also provide reverse engineering services to replicate and improve upon existing installations.

Inspection, Testing and Certification

Every pipe assembly manufactured by Holdens is subjected to rigorous inspection and testing processes. Our team carries out visual weld inspections and dimensional checks as standard. Where specified, we also undertake non-destructive testing including dye penetrant, magnetic particle, ultrasonic or radiographic examination. Pressure testing is available using hydrostatic or pneumatic methods, with all test results fully documented. Final assemblies are thoroughly cleaned and capped or bagged for delivery, ensuring cleanliness and integrity until the system is installed on site.

Each project is delivered with a complete documentation pack, which may include pressure test certificates, material certification to EN 10204 3.1 or 3.2, weld maps, NDT records, and traceability reports. This allows clients to meet the demands of the Pressure Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016, relevant pipework codes such as ASME B31.3 or BS EN 13480, and internal quality assurance procedures.
