BS EN 1090-Compliant Fabrication

Holdens Engineering is fully certified to Execution Class 2 and 3, allowing us to supply steelwork for both simple and complex bridge structures, including those carrying dynamic traffic and pedestrian loads.

Our fabrication process follows a fully documented factory production control (FPC) system, ensuring consistency, material traceability, and compliance with declared design parameters. All welds are carried out under qualified procedures (WPS) by certified personnel and are subject to visual and non-destructive testing as required by project specifications. We maintain close coordination with structural designers and third-party inspectors throughout the process to ensure that fabricated sections are aligned with approved drawings and site requirements.

Surface Treatment and Coating Systems

Holdens Engineering provides a range of protective treatments in line with Highways England specifications, Network Rail requirements, and site-specific durability expectations.

We offer grit blasting, primer coatings, and multi-layer paint systems including zinc-rich, epoxy, and polyurethane finishes. Systems are applied to match durability grades such as C4 or C5-M in accordance with ISO 12944, and all work is carried out under strict environmental and quality controls.

Coating systems can be supplied with full inspection records, dry film thickness measurements, and third-party approvals, supporting long-term warranty and compliance requirements.

Site Delivery, Labelling and Installation Support

All bridge components are delivered to site clearly labelled and sequenced to support efficient installation. Modular sections are supplied with lifting points, transportation brackets, and assembly guides where needed, allowing installation teams to lift, align and fix components with minimal adjustments.

For larger assemblies, Holdens can provide trial fit-up at our facility prior to despatch, giving clients full confidence in interface alignment and tolerances.
